Dark Water

Dark Water (2005) is a psychological horror drama directed by Walter Salles, starring Jennifer Connelly, Ariel Gade, and John C. Reilly. It is a remake of the acclaimed 2002 Japanese film Honogurai Mizu no soko kara, based on a short story by Kōji Suzuki, the author of The Ring.

Set in a bleak New York apartment complex, Dark Water explores the haunting emotional and supernatural experiences of a single mother fighting for custody of her child. Unlike typical ghost stories, this film emphasizes maternal fear, loneliness, and guilt as much as it does horror.
